Today we are moving from Provence up to Rhone and city of Lyon. This stop is mostly to shorten the drive to Champagne. But first, a short detour in lavender country. ?

The morning started with checking out from our room, not too smooth it turned out, they did ask us about when we wanted to check out and we could only choose 8 or 10 so we took 10. And when we got to the reception Desk at 9.15 the man looked at us with a frown and said ”your checkout is at 10”. So we had to wait, not too happy. And just after us came another couple with exactly the same dilemma, very angry about the whole situation. And then there was the mandatory inspection of the whole apartment, to make sure we didnt steal anything, and we had to wait for this to inspection to be completed, and this was even though they took 400 deposit on top of our hotel rate when we checked in ?. Suspicious routines…. This was not a place we will ever return to. And the ants that was allover the place didnt directly enhance the experience. When we went to the reception to let then know we had ants in our room, the guy looked at us and said ”yes?” like it was highly normal. We managed to borrow bug spray, with the strict comment from the guy in the reception ”you must bring it back tomorrow” ?. So Lagrange Vacances L’Oustau De Sorgue is not something i would recommend to anybody, neither service or rooms are a pleasant experience and how they ever got 8.0 rating in Booking.com is a mystery. ?

When we were approved in our inspection of the room, we could go into L’isle-sur-la-Sorgue to visit their sunday market. A really large market with lots of goodies from Provence, mixed with antique/flea market stalls. It was very hot (around 38 degrees) so we managed to walk around about an hour before we gave up the shopping and went for lunch. We were in L’isle-sur-la-sorgue last year as well and i really recommend a visit there. Such a cozy and cute little village with big water wheels here and there, and very nice restaurants/cafés by the water. And LOTS of antique shops. ?

We returned to Lou Burger, a place we visited last year that has really nice burgers.

After lunch it was time to get into the car for a final Provence countryside drive and then head towards Lyon. Top temperature today was 43 degrees… ?

The drive went smooth, and we arrived in Lyon late afternoon. We once again challenged the heat outside and strolled around in Vieux Lyon, shopping some local  delicacies and souvenirs. We also walked in some of the traboules, the secret passways used for silk transportion in the 19th century. Really cool experience to just go through a door from a warm, hectic street and end up in a quiet, cool passway.

When we got back to the hotel we were all exhausted from the 6 km walk so we just chilled and watched some TV and went to sleep early.
